# Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data **Socials** (the "Bot") collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. The Bot is operated by **Novinity** ("we," "us," or "our"). ## 1. What Data We Collect

To provide the Bot's functionality, we collect and store:

- **Discord User ID** — a unique identifier used to associate profile links/titles with your account. We do not collect your username, avatar, email, or other Discord account details beyond this ID.
- **Discord Server (Guild) ID** — a unique identifier used to associate links/titles with a specific server.
- **Social links and titles you submit** — the actual text/URLs you choose to add via the Bot's commands, for either your profile or a server.
- **Timestamps** — such as when an entry was created or last updated, for basic record-keeping.

We do **not** intentionally collect passwords, payment information, private messages, or any Discord data beyond what's described above.

## 2. How We Collect It

Data is collected only when you actively use a Bot command to add, edit, or view a link or title (e.g., a command like `/addlink`). We do not passively monitor messages, channels, or servers.

## 3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data solely to:

- Store and display the social links and titles you or your server have added.
- Allow retrieval of that data through the Bot's commands (e.g., displaying a user's or server's linked profile).
- Maintain and troubleshoot the Bot's functionality.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the Bot's core functionality.

## 4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties, except:

- Where required to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or valid legal request.
- With service providers that host our database or infrastructure (NeonDB), who process data only on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Since links and titles you add to your **profile** or a **server** are, by design, visible to anyone who queries them through the Bot, please do not submit information you don't want visible to other Discord users interacting with the Bot.

## 5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as:

- Your entry remains active and you have not requested its removal, **or**
- The Bot remains in the relevant server (for server-level data).

You may delete your data at any time using the Bot's removal command (e.g., `/removesocial`), or by contacting us directly (see Section 8). Server-level data may also be deleted by an authorized server administrator. **Data is not automatically deleted if the Bot is removed from a server** — it will persist in our database and will be immediately restored if the Bot is re-added, unless deletion is requested directly.

## 6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect stored data from unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

## 7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can exercise these rights by:

- Using the Bot's built-in commands to view, edit, or delete your links/titles, or
- Contacting us directly at **n@novinity.dev**.

We will respond to reasonable requests within a reasonable timeframe.

## 8. Children's Privacy

The Bot is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from users who do not meet Discord's minimum age requirements. If we become aware that we've collected data from an underage user, we will delete it.

## 9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Bot after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
